Products and Services Offered
(a) Agricultural Loans (Kilimo)
(i) General Farm (Ukulima) – Targets smallholder farmers
to meet their credit needs for farm inputs, infrastructure, labour,
etc. First loan is a maximum of Kshs. 30,000 and repayable within
(ii) Zero Grazing (Ufugaji) – Targets full time dairy farmers who require credit to purchase high quality dairy cows, zero
grazing equipment, construction of better sheds and working
capital. First loan is a maximum of Kshs. 50,000 and repayable
within 18 months.
(b) Business Loan Products (Biashara)
Under this loan product, SISDO provides loans to SMEs within the
operational areas. These loans are provided to individual borrowers through solidarity groups who must be indigenous entrepreneurs over 18 years of age and must at least have operated a legal
business enterprise for a minimum of 6 months.
(i) Business Uplift (Inua) – Targets small and micro entrepreneurs for working capital needs. First loan is a maximum of
Ksh. 30,000 and repayable within one year.
(ii) Business bridging (Daraja) – Targets middle level
entrepreneurs and farmers for working capital, technological improvements and innovations. First loans are between Ksh. 50,000
and 100,000 and repayable within 12 months. Loans greater than
Ksh. 300,000 are repaid within 24 months
(c) Other Products
(i) School fees (Elimu) – Targets SISDO existing clients
with school going children or dependants. Loan size is a maximum of Kshs. 50,000 and repayable within 12 months.
(ii) Emergency Loan – Targets all existing and eligible
clients who have fallen sick or have urgent orders to service.
(iii) Asset financing – Targets both new and existing
SISDO clients. Loan size is a maximum of Kshs. 50,000 and is repaid within 12 months.
(iv) Individual loan – Targets SISDO existing clients who
have outgrown the group methodology and new clients with
(v) Micro Health Insurance – Targets SISDO existing clients who require health insurance for themselves and the family.

Majority of SISDO’s clients are semi-literate as such in order to develop their capacities and understanding of the financial products
provided, SISDO provides both process and technical training
especially in the area of crop and dairy farming techniques. The
process training covers areas like; group formation, leadership,
constitution making, group dynamics, loan terms and conditions
and credit and default management.
SISDO targets smallholder farmers and Small and Micro Entrepreneurs within the rural-urban areas in Kenya. The clients must be
Kenyan citizens aged over 18 years of age holding national Identity Card. They should have an experience of at least 6 months in
either farming or enterprise within the operational area. SISDO
accesses financial services to the target clients to support and
expand their existing enterprises and improve their standards of
